Well it seems obvious enough that texting while driving is a bad thing, it takes tragic events like the one last week to really bring the point home. The best rule of thumb should be to keep the thumbs on the steering wheel at all times, and avoid even touching the mobile handset.

But since a lot of people aren’t going to listen to this advice, we figured we try and recommend an alternative solution. One is E-Max from Virtual Management Inc. This month service ($19.95 per month) lets users flag VIP contacts so that when messages are sent via e-mail you can receive these most important messages as a voice message. You can then in turn replay via the phone, and the receiver will receive an e-mail with a voice attachment.

  • Another solution is a hands free instant voice messaging solution called Pinger. You can call, record, send, reply, or forward messages without ever having to thumb your phone and recipients get the messages instantly.

  • Oh, and I forgot to mention that Pinger is FREE for everyone and works on all mobile phones regardless of carrier. Check it out at http://www.pinger.com

  • That’s all well and good. But how about a real live Virtual Assistant who can remotely monitor your emails, weed out the wheat from the chaff, deal with the routine and mundane, and alert you to something that really needs your individual attention. Now that would be working smarter!
