iPhone Good as a Mobile Reader
by Peter Suciu on July 24, 2007

iphone_washpost_200.jpgLike our colleagues over at our sister site CrunchGear, we don’t like to get our fingers all covered in ink from newspapers, which is why NewspaperDirect’s PressDisplay.com service sounds so interesting. The site offers 500 newspapers from 70 countries in 37 languages, and better still is now available free for a month for the iPhone.

“The iPhone is the perfect mobile platform for PressDisplay.com because its rich user interface complements the advanced navigation and browsing capabilities of PressDisplay,” said Alexander Kroogman, CEO of NewspaperDirect. “But what is really exciting is that, for the first time, we can mobile-enable all of our dozens of SmartEdition publications, giving their subscribers anywhere/anytime access to their digital editions.”

OK, so after the month to get you hooked this service can be a little costly. It is $2.75 for a single daily paper, and ranges from $9.95 to a whopping $199.95 per month! WOW, for $200 I think I’ll stick with the ink on my fingers!
