AT&T Launches Video Share in 160 Markets
by Peter Suciu on July 25, 2007

ATT.jpgIf you’re using AT&T, and are in the top 160 markets in the country, you’re going to be able to share live video during voice calls. AT&T has announced the nationwide launch of AT&T Video Share, which is the first ever service in the United States that allows users to share live video over their mobile handsets.

“AT&T Video Share will be groundbreaking in the way life events are captured and shared,” said David Christopher, chief marketing officer of AT&T’s wireless unit. “For consumers, the service offers a new, easily attainable, level of connectivity. With the streaming video, users can ’see what I see, when I see it.’ It’s a dramatic new way to share personal moments and events beyond the capabilities of voice and text.”

The service enables one-way live streaming-video feeds that can be seen by both parties during normal two-way voice calls. Thus one party can generate the video stream for the other to see. This is the first AT&T app to use the company’s emerging Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) platform, and is available exclusively over the AT&T 3G wireless network. So both users will need to be on AT&T to enjoy the video sharing.
