FIBA and Nokia Announce Partnership

fiba.jpgToday Nokia and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced a partnership to create mobile services for FIBA, including the basketball championship events in 2007. The new mobile FIBA service will let fans check scores and schedules and even watch interviews from their mobile handsets. And this is limited to Nokia-produced devices either. The FIBA mobile content can be seen through any device that access the Internet, and will be made available through Nokia Video Center, which is currently on the Nokia N95.

“We are delighted to partner up with the world leader not just in mobile device hardware, but also the leader in developing the opportunities that mobile technology offers,” said FIBA Commercial Director Matthew Osmon. “We are particularly amazed by the video quality the new Nokia devices offer. The Nokia N93i is an ideal tool for our basketball reporters to, for instance, record video interviews with players and coaches.”

The FIBA mobile content will include this month’s FIBA Americas championship in Las Vegas and the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers EuroBasket in Spain in September.
