Are you one of the millions of drivers who can’t wait to send a text message? A survey released today by Pinger, Inc. and conducted by Harris Interactive finds that 91% of American adults think sending text messages or mobile emails while driving is as dangerous as driving after a few drinks. State Legislators across the nation are looking at laws to combat this scourge of the electronic age.
Thankfully, the good people at Pinger, Inc. have a solution. (Yes, Pinger paid for the survey.) By subscribing to Pinger’s voice messaging service, a driver speaks into a hands-free headset, gives a contact name and message, and then hangs-up. The message is sent to any mobile phone in the U.S. Your hands never have to leave the Two o’clock – Ten o’clock position.

Great post, and definitely true. I believe the Title would be more appropriate when reversed to be:
Text Drivers Perceived As Dangerous As Drunk Drivers
just sayin’
Just when the situation between cellphone use and driving died down, they bring in text. ppl have to stop talking and using things like peekamo while driving. It’s sad that this is happening and texting hasnt even reached its full popularity yet.
No doubt, texting while driving is dangerous, but driving drunk is a bit risky as you can see in this link

It looks to me like Pinger has the solution. People are going to communicate while driving. They never think an accident will happen to them. Sending a quick pinger message will at the very least reduce the time spent on the phone with or without holding it in your hands. Like a text message you simply say whats important and hang up. Even if Pinger paid for the survey we all know its true. I looked up Pinger and its free! That shpould have been in the article. maby more people would use this method.
