Since its German launch last November, the iPhone has sold more than 100,000 units. T-Mobile, which is owned by Deutsche Telekom, has the exclusive contract to sell the popular device in Germany. Chief executive Rene Obermann, while speaking at an annual general meeting, said the iPhone is the most popular multimedia device sold by Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile cell phone division.

Obermann mentioned that iPhone customers use the Internet 30 times more than other cell phone customers. Obermann also said one-third of iPhone customers bought the most expensive service plans.

The company won’t say exactly how many iPhones have been sold so far, only that it exceeds 100,000 units. Company spokesman Alexander von Schmettow did say iPhone sales were “meeting expectations” but declined to mention future sales expectations.

There have been rumors circulating that Apple is on the verge of releasing an improved iPhone, but Obermann wouldn’t comment on those rumors. Even though there have been signs that a new phone is coming from Apple, those executives who might be in on the secret are keeping tight-lipped.
