With the Sidekick Gekko expected to launch soon at a wallet-friendly price, it looks like Danger is giving the higher-end Sidekick LX the update treatment to keep it in the top spot.
While there doesn’t seem to be a concrete date when the OTA update will roll out, the guys at Hiptop3 managed to get the rundown on some of the coming features. Video playback and recording through the “SonicBOOM” player has been further confirmed, though it’ll be limited to 3GP and simple profile MP4s. The update will also overhaul Bluetooth on the device - in addition to the hands-free headset and vCard support on the device, the LX will be getting A2DP Stereo headset support, file exchange, and bluetooth printing.
Most Sidekick releases seem to get one big feature OTA right around the middle of its lifespan - seems like this’ll be that update for the LX.

I think that for a phone with SO much potential, they NEED to release those features for the sklx. I think the screen quality has been going to waste with just being able to view pictures. If anyone from danger is reding this PLEASE do your customers/loyal fans justice by releasing such updates.
i just received an OTA on my lx but it didnt say what it was for, so after the reboot, i went to see what new “goodies” i had received….none…its the exact same as before!!! WTF? was it just a system upgrade? im not complaining..just confused!
lex- im not sure what OTA you had but thats not this one. Ive checked a ton of sites and they all say this OTA is gonna hit mid July. AND i have talked to 3 different tmobile bases and the guys there say that the lx will get this update around July. WHY? they said because thats around when the tony hawk lx is coming out which is coming out with video, so they are sending it to all other lxs. SO CHILL! youll get the update. If you dont then go speak to tmobile, you dont wanna let this update miss you for sure!
Oh hell yeah! I am so excited, I thought the sk lx was lame for not having video and it being an newly made device. This’ll make it epic.

I kinda don’t see the point in having video capabilities,when the camera isn’t very good…as a matter of fact, the camera is probably the same cam that was on the sk3, bc it seems like it. SK is a really good device…just seems like its always behind the rest of the other devices.. I personally believe the Camera being improved would give it that step up it needs to be a fighting contender with the other mainstream devices…There’s always hope in the next generation of Sidekicks, I suppose. Everyone can’t be pleased. Oh and about that OTA…. I’ve heard from several reliable sources that its set to be sent out starting June 25th..who really knows, really…..
