Lenovo’s new GPS handset, the P990
by Greg Kumparak on August 13, 2008

Did you know that Lenovo makes phones? We don’t hear about’em very often on this side of the Pacific, but it turns out that they actually have a whole friggin’ lot of’em.

The newest addition is the Lenovo P990, a dual-band GMS/GPRS phone being offered over in China. Besides the novelty of the brand, there isn’t much you couldn’t find in a handset locally: 240×320 screen 3″ display, a 2 megapixel shooter, the same Wolfson audio chips used in iPods until Apple switched it up early 2008, and GPS via SIRF III chips. It does support both Chinese and English with handwriting recognition, if that’s something you’re looking for.

Plus, if it’s anything like the IBM Lenovo Thinkpad my family has owned for around a decade, you could probably use it to crack walnuts and drop-measure abysmal depths without denting it.
