[...] Our testing has confirmed that iPod Touch users do not get updates to their Google Maps app with firmware 2.2, which, at least on the iPhone, includes the addition of Street View as well as public transit and walking directions. The updated browser interface, podcast downloading and assorted other tweaks are all there, as was the requisite sacrificing of any jailbreak apps. Of course there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation for this, but until that’s given, Apple, it’s all pitchforks and torches. Or iPods and forums posts, I guess.
K.A.: The iPod Touch can no have walking directions or turn-by-turn directions as it's lacking the hardware. The iPod Touch does not have the built-in GPS that the iPhone has.

There are more differences between the iPhone and the iPod Touch than just the phone...

Glad this is out. Maybe now they can shift their focus to features customers are asking for, like MMS. I make the case here: http://blog.mcmanus-family.com/2008/09/the-case-for-mms-on-the-iphone.html

2.3 better have searchable email. I agree that I don't care at all about street view. That's a secondary convenience feature whereas searchable email is a primary usability item. C'mon, you'd think with how great the searching is in finder that they could get even a basic email search going. Oh, and let my inbox grow to more than 200 mails without having to download more through the interface. We've got 16GB of space, how about letting us set a max inbox size instead of having to futz with download more every time.

This is completely unfair.
I've been eagerly awaiting the new map features (Street, Walking Directions) only to find that iPod Touch users don't get these.
What is the reason for this!?

I got an Ipod Touch because it used the same interface as the iPhone, and allowed me to use the same features! I didn't get an iPod touch so I could use HALF of the features found on the iPhone.

Everyone contact Apple:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html
and tell them what WE think!
This isn't acceptable!

Of course there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation for this, but until that’s given, Apple, it’s all pitchforks and torches. Or iPods and forums posts, I guess.
