One of the great things about Android Market is that you can see what everyone has to say about the applications they’ve downloaded. Very useful in figuring out if you should really download that app called “Alien Blood Bath” or just avoid it all together.
The system, however, is slightly flawed. It appears that no one is really moderating these comments, and they usually end up turning into heated debates on the most futile of topics. So, rather than let these little gems go to waste, we’ve run into the middle of the battle, and emerged somewhat unscathed with loads of half-baked comments for everyone to enjoy.
Note: These have been copied as-is from the Android Market, with minor censoring.
- AndroidCan Connect: “Bored. Hit me up at ***@gmail.com and we’ll talk” by katie.
- Biolines: “Like a clingy ex-girlfriend that keeps re-installing itself. Seriously, how the heck do you remove this permanently? Worst app ever.” by Erin.
- Deflektor Remake: “Im not gonna bash it but that is no classic pac man is classic and how about the ball that breaks the blocks i forget the name arkonoid i think” by duane.

There you have it, just a small dosage of the magnificent Android Market comments. How long until someone develops an app that bricks phones for people who comment “FIRST!!!1″?

You’re an idiot !
Bored. Hit me up at katie1983@gmail.com and we’ll talk.

LOL! And people complain about the comments in the App Store! We’re down right civil there.
shit…what’s going on here ???
This issue on the market has been driving me crazy. With the amount of beta and unfinished apps its vital to have other peoples opinions and sometimes I will just skip over an app cause I just can’t handle 7 people saying first and then 7 more giving them grief for it and maybe only 1 actual review. This needs to be resolved before other companies start shipping android phones cause people ar going to get very frustrated. Also the developers can censor this because their have been certain apps that I have seen remove dumb ass comments
FIRST replY!!!!!1!!!11!!!

I’m apparently a dumbass…
I have agree.
i have to agree, reading through the comments… just LOL
Definitely, I know that this letter will be a surprising one to you. Firstly,
I will like to introduce myself formally as Dr.Hamza Maja Kuta, the Director
Telex/K.T.T Dept of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). You are been officially
contacted by me today because your payment funds were Re-deposited into
the “Federal Suspense Account” of CBN last week, because you did not forward
your claim as the right beneficiary. Well known to all, The Central Bank of
Nigeria is the mother Bank of all commercial Banks here in Nigeria. Really
these men were unexpected by me because their visit was imprompt. I had to ask
them why they came to see me in person and they said that they were here to
collect your payment sum of US$D 20,000,000 (Twenty Million United States
Dollars) which rightfully belongs to you, on your Behalf.
I’m so shocked and surprised that Google didn’t make a comment moderation system. When non-G1 or Android owners see posts or hear feedback like this in the boards they shake their heads at us Android folks.
It gets really annoying and pathetic to see; the FIRST comments, racists comments, low ratings and complaints about not having Flash, users bashing other commenters, users showing sorrow because of the idiotic comments prior saying “Keep it up developers… we need you!”, spam, comments that don’t have anything to do with the app, bored comments, I could go all day, etc.
I recently interviewed a few of the top Android Developer Challenge winners; they express their opinions and some almost felt it was a mistake releasing their app for Android because of the poor moderation system.
I do believe however Google has something up their sleeve for the idiots who bash in the market (getting more from my Google insider resource… shhh). Plus, when paid apps hit the market, some of it will be cut down as they won’t pay for complaints. But, that will only spark more complaints about paying for apps.
The G1 forum truly is a fucked up place. I logged in and tried to get a fair comparison of cost to phone capabilities and a mod closed my account and stated it would “NEVER’ be reopened.
Just as well, because paying ANYBODY (especially google) an extra monthly fee so you can search google 24/7 from your phone is just plain stupid.
No video or pc connect abilities and apparently no free aps either from a highly anticipated OS (my ass) phone.
The G1 is like linux except the G1 repository (suppository?) nickles and dimes you to death. GEE, and all that just so you can merge with google.
Data plans are just fine by themselves. Google is not my carrier and I would never buy a phone which forces you to make a monthly payment to google.
just my 2 cents
So maybe Symbian wasn’t that bad after all… Seriously, once the Symbian Foundation gets up to speed, I think we can expect some cool stuff!
Looks like Android needs a FlameWar app.
Flameware?
This is the most garbage thread I’ve ever seen on TC.
Lol this is the fun stuff that you only get from google products. You know that Apple would have censored anything that bad mouthed their product.
Need GOD get on your knees and pray to him who are in heaven. On a hand made kneeling pillow. pray with or with out a pillow but pray
p.o box 100933 milwaukee,wi 53210 just $15.00
Apparently the g1 app store made everyone on this thread a little dumber
That includes you!
well, comments would be good in the app store if they were moderated…
Believe it or not there is some level of moderation when it comes to Android AppMarket comments. I have released textonphone application on Android AppMarket (Entertainment section) few days ago and I have noticed that one of the comments that was really off the base was actually removed. So there is some level of moderation, but it definitely is lightweight. In addition to comments, users on Android AppMarket can send email directly to app developer and they do that quite a lot. To be honest, I was surprised at the beginning by the comments both on Android AppMarket and via email, but now I actually start to like Android users and their comments. I had a lot of experience with iPhone apps but now I see iPhone user community as elitist and boring. Current Android user community is very vibrant, extremely active (both in communication and app usage), very diverse and actually fun to develop to. They tend to interact with application much more and post a lot of comments, way more than average iPhone users.
App ?LOL,,,iphone don’t need
Sure hope android apps give tuff competition to iphone apps :)
There are many innovative apps in Android AppMarket today that wouldn’t even be possible to develop on iPhone. Few come to mind like Locale. iSafe etc. Even apps that run on iPhone e.g. Weatherbug have much more capabilities on Android than on iPhone. iPhone app market is saturated with .99c trivial apps and is soon to look like Facebook app gallery loaded with Zombie like apps. Android from technical point of view with location based services, notifications, broadcasting capabilities, ability to run multiple apps in the background etc. has much bigger potential for development of relevant, useful apps than iPhone (you can also develop trivial “send Zombie bite” apps if that is what you want).
Also, get ready for Android like comments on iPhone AppMarket once Walmart starts selling iPhone…
I am the developer of DailyHoroscope and the comment presented here is not the most dumb I’ve seen.
Maybe it’s naive, yeah. Well, my point is there ARE some REALLY dumb comments from REALLY idiotic people which most of the time have nothing to do with the application actually.
One of the MOST dumbest comment there was (I am paraphrasing) “this *** Max stole my google password/phone account and I had to talk to TMO to retrieve it”

Best of stupid mobile crunch comments indeed.
Check out neocore demo, it gives me some hope that the g1 can do something, afterall if they write emulators in opengl es then they should have decent frame rates.
