Word on the Interstreets today is that Android Market app – MemoryUp – is giving users much more than they bargained for. Instead of optimizing users’ G1 memory (as advertised), the now suspected malware app is doing the exact opposite – causing lots of Android headaches in the form of memory wipes, contact disappearances, OS crashes, adware, and spam galore.
In other words, unless you enjoy punishing your G1, we highly recommend that users avoid MemoryUp all together.

This is why they need a proper approval process…

An approval process isn’t a bad idea but it’s more than evident that we have to watch out for ourselves when we are the only ones who stand to directly suffer from malware like this. A digital security site like this is a good start.
Instead of approval policy, can there be a certification process? Once certified, the end users can be sure of certain standards being followed.
I am guessing that by “approval” you mean, Google approval. Would like to see the approval move out from Google, make it a transparent certification process by some industry supported unit.
