You’ve seen this form factor on many occasions from Pantech with the Helio Ocean being the most notable of the bunch and probably the best. I’m a fan of Matrix, but haven’t actually touched it myself, yet. The Duo was an utter failure and POS, but the Matrix Pro looks like a champ. It’s a full-fledged Windows Mobile 6.1 device with the familiar dual keyboard slide design for both QWERTY and 12-key.

It’s rocking a 2.4-inch screen, UMTS/HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE (3G!!!), a 2-megapixel camera with 4x zoom, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and a microSD slot for up to 32GB of junk. OS aside, the Matrix Pro looks like a pretty solid device with a swanky QWERTY keyboard. I wonder if that center wheel is touch-sensitive like the Ocean 2. It measures in at 4.2×2.0×0.9 inches and weighs 5.34 ounces with the battery. Talk time is estimated at six hours with 12 days of standby.

Look for the Matrix Pro to drop February 24th for $180 after a MIR and 2-year contract.

The Matrix Pro will support the following AT&T services:
Mobile Music
AT&T Navigator
MEdia Mail
MEdia Net
MobiTV
