BlackBerry Niagara is really the 9630, still coming to Verizon

BG just dropped a bomb about the 8230 that’s actually the 9630, but has the codename Niagara. It’s still going to be a World Edition, which means it will support CDMA 1x, EV-DO Rev. A, GSM, GPRS, EDGE and UMTS. No Wi-Fi, but that’s what you should expect from Verizon by now. The 9630 may or may not have a camera, but if it does it’ll be a 3.2-megapixel shooter. And the browser will support JavaScript 1.6. There’s no launch date, but BG thinks May or June.

  • I have wifi on my BB , but I almost never use it, unless im at home it connects automatically. so no wifi, it should also be ok

  • May or May Not have a camera? I thought I would be fine without a camera on my 8830 but with all the new social networking stuff on the mobile web, I miss the camera.

No camera, no go. What about GPS…think it will be enabled for all apps, not just Blackberry Maps?

    • Large screen family
QWERTY keyboard 480×360 LCD EV-DO Rev.
A aGPS 3.2 megapixel camera 4.7 OS platform
BES 5.0 support (HTML email, etc) Qualcomm MSM7600 processor

  • It’s definitely a nice looking phone. From the front it looks like a smaller Bold, and from the side it looks like the 8900 Curve. And with all of the pictures that have been surfacing I would say it shouldn’t be too long before it’s in stores. Any sure dates yet? can’t even it on http://www.Niagara-BlackBerry.com I hope it will come out sooner or later.
