What’s that? You finally just got around to installing Beta 4 of iPhone OS 3.0? Sorry – it’s update time again.
Breaking their normal stride of every 2 weeks, Apple has just pushed Beta 5 to the Developer Center. Does this slight speed up mean anything? Could 3.0’s public release be right around the corner?
We’re not expecting any dramatic changes or new features this time around – but if we see anything, we’ll let you know.
Update: We just got two strange reports, both claiming the same thing: MMS and tethering have both stopped functioning, even for those with modified carrier bundles. However, plenty of people are saying it’s still working. One idea is that it varies depending on if you did a clean install or if you restored from a backup. Anyone out there having this problem?
Tethering no long working sort of makes sense – they might be tweaking things a bit to make it (slightly) harder for jailbreakers to get tethering on the free. But MMS? That’s usually limited on a network level. Strange.

Can’t wait for the public release of iPhone 3.0!
Why using MMS when you can send the same picture via email (included in your data fee)
The problem with MMS is that you can’t send international messages and you are never sure that your contact can open it :-/
For sending pics to the very vast majority of phone owners that don’t have a smartphone (or a dumb phone that does e-mail reasonably well)
In Europe 99% of phones can receive MMS
Fact : In Belgium, +- 3,5 million BASE customers can’t activate the service because the provider does not support MMS (even if the mobile phone does) :-/
i think it’s just waist of time updating… next month they gonna make 4.0

ya, I’m also having the same problem. Whether the problem might be in installation only or any other reasons for the problem?
i prefer the original version instead a beta version for the same reason.
Well of course everybody prefers the public version instead of the beta version. The public version has a bunch of fixes that Apple found out about because of the beta version. So the definition of a public version would make it better than a beta version.
In Asia 70% of phones can receive MMS.
problem with the OS3. i dunno if its just me. but AFTER i upgraded my iphone 3G to OS3. i started hearing the static interference from desk speakers. plus, the battery life diminished immensely. i usually have it on standby mode without the need for charging for 2 or more days. but after upgrading, my phone runs out of battery after 5 hours or so… im pretty pissed off.
For your battery life issue,
try to disable the following add-ons :
- GPS localization
- PUSH notification
if you don’t use it, disable 3g and prefer Wifi
And you can set the brightness of your display a bit lower..
or buy the the iPhone 3Gs it provide 1hour extra battery life ;-)
