I don’t know about you, but the novelty of watching random YouTube crap videos on my iDevice wore off pretty quickly. And with iHulu (a.k.a. an official Hulu app) nowhere to be found, there aren’t too many other quality alternatives for viewing free content on your iPhone or iPod touch…until now.
CNET points out that NBC’s mobile site – m.nbc.com – provides access to full episodes of many of the network’s most popular shows, including Heroes and The Office.
The catch – the episodes are broken up into 7+ minute segments, each with a commercial intro. However, on the bright side, once the show begins to buffer you can manually fast forward past the commercial to the good stuff.
The shows load very quickly over WiFi (and relatively so via 3G) and the image/sound quality seems comparable (er, close enough) to a locally stored copy. Sure beats paying.

As for the other major networks, both ABC (abc.go.com/iphone) and CBS (iphone.cbs.com) offer mobile video for the iDevices, but the content is limited to recaps and short clips. As for FOX, it doesn’t seem to have any mobile video on its wap.fox.com site.

love i hulu and if we gonna get ihulu that would be awsome

I ran into the NBC’s site the other night and was VERY impressed with the quality of the video. Great idea by NBC to get a food in the door on this.
If all the networks go to this format it could really hurt the SlingBox’s new iPhone app sales (which just came out today)…

Good deal…can’t wait for iHulu, when it arrives.
WinMo and Nokia users can also access full Hulu functionality using Skyfire browser (www.skyfire.com). Very cool.
Err, just like iLike is for the iPhone???
Hulu is great. Especially with content from ABC supposedly being added soon. Not sure why it took the networks so long to create a site like this.
We’ve had access to most BBC tv and radio programmes through the iPlayer site on the iPhone for quite a while in the UK.
You better believe I am going to comment on this one once I get home to my MAC. Yes it will be Video…Get Ready!!!
I emailed Hulu about a week ago asking if we had an iPhone App to look forward to in the near future. Their response, was no, not for awhile. Right now their focus is streaming video on computers only. And doing everything they can to keep Hulu the best for online streaming.
So Hulu App??? Not likely for some time. However, I hope someone comes up with something! Then maybe Hulu will get on it!
This is so OLD. I started using when I got my iPhone3G
I would use until the episodes started showing up out of order. Then some episode parts were nowhere to be found. Sometimes the last part would be incomplete. It would be missing the last piece before the credits. So i would have to watch when I got home anyways.
Also there is no automatic feature to start the next part in the episode. I believe CBS has this or one of the other major networks does.
I’m curious if AT&T will begin blocking certain ports, protocols or domains that use the most bandwidth on their network.
Works for Blackberry Storm owners too of course. We’ve been using it for some time.
Oh wait, I forgot the writers here don’t want to hear that. The agenda here is pro-Google and pro-Apple and anti-Microsoft, anti-Yahoo! and anti-RIM.
Silly me.
