Good catch on the leaked information. Now that this has been made apparent, I believe that AT&T will launch this tactic sooner than later.

I was able to successfully process an order at the ATT Premier website. Credit card charged and the site said that the phone will arrive on the 17th, irrespective of the shipping option chosen.

I was able to get to the order page but it said if I place the order it would take 5-7 business days for me to receive my phone or pay $14.95 for next day deliver…which probably doesn’t mean Saturday delivery, so I would still have to wait until Monday to receive the phone…
pointless…just go down to your local corporate ATT store and pre-order it!
