The HTC Touch Pro 2 is now available at T-Mobile. Too bad it’s really $349.

We’ve heard real good things about the HTC Touch Pro 2. The 3.6-inch WVGA screen is good, the slide-out keyboard is apparently awesome and HTC once again shipped a great skin for Winmo 6.1. It’s just too bad that at $349, it’s the most expensive handset available at T-Mobile just like we feared.

This means that only die-hard Windows Mobile fans will use the quality phone. No matter how good the hardware is on the Touch Pro 2, there isn’t any reason why someone should spend an extra $150 on it over the Android-power myTouch 3G. Hopefully Verizon doesn’t make the same mistake when the Touch Pro 2 launches in a few weeks on its network.

Did someone know if it can work on the Rogers network? Rogers use SIM card. In the pro2 spec I can see GSM/ EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)… Will Rogers have it?

  • My Touch 3G owns this phone, so why would you pay $150 more for it? WinMo 6.1 is so terrible…..

  • “there isn’t any reason why someone should spend an extra $150 on it over the Android-power myTouch 3G.”

Wait. The myTouch 3G also has a qwerty keyboard? No? Then there’s one reason. Now when is it coming to AT&T?

    • uh, yeah, the mytouch 3g does have a qwerty keyboard. Soft touch qwerty that you can customize. so yeah, mytouch 3g does in fact own this phone. but from what I understand, this phone would be a great asset for business owners. but then again, what can this phone do that the mytouch can’t?

      • If you really are comparing a physical keyboard to an on-screen touch keyboard, then you are truly an ass.

I could name a dozen things that this phone can do which the MyTouch currently can’t and they all come from the years worth of application development that WinMo has over Android.

That said… a physical keyboard is a tough sell for an extra $150… however, you forgot to mention features like the 800×480 resolution (vs 320 x 480 on the myTouch), the 3.6″ screen (vs 3.2″ on the myTouch), and the 288MB RAM (vs 192MB on the myTouch). Add it up and it’s clearly a better productivity and media device. Still… is it worth $150 extra dollars? Right now, I couldn’t decide. Hopefully Verizon will be more competitive in price.

  • yes, it is worth the extra $150. It completely “OWNS” the mytouch!
