There it is, folks, in what appears to be final form: the Nokia N900, otherwise known as the Rover or RX-51 – and boy, does it look gorgeous. We broke the news of the N900 back in May, and the final hardware appears to match inch-for-inch with the concept image we drew up at the time.
Eldar Murtazin of Mobile-Review has been trickling out screenshots of the N900’s operating system, Maemo 5, for the past day or so, and now we know where he might have gotten them: right off his own N900. We’ve got no idea how he pulled it off (though such feats aren’t uncommon for this guy), but Eldar has somehow managed to wrangle up an N900 of his very own, a full two weeks before the handset is expected to be announced at Nokia World. According to his twitter stream, we can expect a full preview sometime before the day is out.
Update: Mobile-Review’s preview is now up. Hardware shots, Maemo screenshots – it’s all there. They do say they left “some bread” for Nokia to announce at Nokia World, so expect to see more soon.

Im in love nokia. Here is what my n97 should be. Any body want to buy a used n97?
Let me know for how much you want to sell your N97. Btw, which region?
Its the nam version 450 us dollars. Do you use ebay?
i remember seeing the new for 450 odd at dell store (from slickdeals forums). I am from asia but if the price is right, I might grab one n97. alo, the release of n900 will take the prices of n97 down ;-)
Nokia should just start working on Android if they don’t want to be left out in the cold. I am sure a bunch of Nokia engineers are working on Android anyways.
Why Android? Maemo is much better and more open..
Android is by far better. 100 thousand of the worlds best engineers at Gogle and dozens other giant companies are making Android perfect vs 500 engineers at Nokia.
its a full open source stack, you are welcome to port/hack whatever you want. android runs on the n810, im sure it will not be long before android is ported if that is want.
personally im more interested in hacking on qt then android.
Hi guys, I want to ask a stupid question, but since nobody is being specific about N900, here’s what I want to know:
Is Nokia N900 a phone or an internet tablet? When first images showed up in May, everybody regarded N900 as an internet tablet, but now all sites are saying phone. So what is it exactly?
Sorry for this silly question but I really want to know. Thanks
Both, really. It’s an internet table that happens to have quad-band GSM.
