We’re live from Motorola’s Android announcement at the Mobilize conference, where the company is expected to announce at least two new handsets running Google’s mobile operating system.
This is a big day for Motorola – nearly one year ago, the flailing company switched up their game by dedicating a 350-person team to this new endeavor. Have their efforts been worthwhile? Find out in our minute-to-minute coverage.

Awesome liveblog interface from ScribbleLIVE. Reading now.
I _hate_ Motorola because I hate their mobile interfaces. I’d give them a second glance with Android, but not much faith.

What is he going on about? Just release some good hardware, slap some Android on it and you’ll be fine. No, I don’t need you to go all social media on me.
I love android! I just gave up my iPhone a month ago… and I’m not going back.

Product page is up, but that home screen looks really quite cluttered.
wow that’s it?
Gah! Who gives a damn about the Click and that bastard step-child of a provider, T-Mobile. What about the Sholes, dammit!
As a Big Red customer, I was hoping for some Sholes info as well…
I’ve been riding out the VX9900 that I got in 2007 since my contract expired in March in hopes of something like the Sholes. I know I have to wait a little longer but throw me a bone, at least. Give me something to get excited about.
Heh I’ve got the VX10000 and same thing, my contract ended and I am waiting to see which Android phone to jump on.
Verizon really needs to hurry up and get a decent phone, especially with Sprint’s pricing looking more attractive every day…
this really looks great if your addicted to your social sites
No love for Verizon. :(
Yet anyways.
Google focuses on software platform, tons of manufactures build hardwares. Ironically this is time Apple is the microsoft in mobile world.

Enjoy!
only 1 announced phone from Moto? LAME! where’s sholes!?
Damn it! Where the hell is my Sholes?
Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?
Really, really, really not impressed. The HTC Sense looks so much more polished and the UI looks way more thought out and, you know, usable.
Hmm. MOT is definitely going in the right direction. However – and I HATE to sound like a fanboy – these devices still don’t seem to be quite as well thought out or as brilliantly designed as the HTC hero. This latest MOT news really highlights just how much of a gem the Hero really is.
It is also interesting to see how much work they’ve put into widgets. The trend now seems to be that manufacturers will differentiate themselves by the “widget layer” they build on top of the standard stack.
My experience with the Hero here in the UK shows me that when implemented well, Android makes for a superior communications device, even though it can’t hold a candle to the iPhone’s video game capabilites. Good work, MOT. Keep ‘em coming.
