Let’s just say it: Sprint is back. First the carrier nabs the hottest handhelds with the Palm Pre, BlackBerry Tour and soon the HTC Hero and Palm Pixi. But that’s just the start.
Now, it’s offering up the $69 Any Mobile, Anytime plan which includes – get this – unlimited calls to any mobile phone, unlimited web surfing, Blackberry access, unlimited Direct Connect, unlimited text, picture, and video, and unlimited weekend minutes start at 7pm. Plus, the plan includes all the little extras like GPS Navigation, Music Premier, TV Premier, NFL Mobile Live, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile. Wowsers.
Hopefully Sprint is successful with this latest push. If it is, then other carriers will have to follow suit which means everyone wins. Right now most of us pay a ridiculous amount each month for mobile service. My $149 plan on Verizon includes BIS and 1200 minutes, but only a small text messaging package for both lines. With Sprint, I can spend $20 less, but have unlimited everything and more minutes.
Maybe Sprint realizes that people buy into plans more than the handsets. Sure, the iPhone is cool, but the monthly plan is damn expensive which probably turns some folks off. It’s a shame too because the hardware is an amazing piece of technology. But times are tough and not everyone can afford that type of plan every month. An unlimited plan for only $70 is a lot easier and there will be a good amount of quality but affordable hardware to choose from soon anyway.
Well done, Sprint. Well done.

I’m pretty excited about this. I own a Pre with the 70 dollar plan, a family member is on the iPhone (though she’s been with AT&T since the olden times of Cingular Wireless, so she gets unnamed perks). Basically, this just makes me a happier Sprint Customer.
wow, that’s a damn good move on Sprint’s part. i have an iphone and HATE ATT’s service.
**ponders**
I checked the Sprint site and this is not posted yet, when will this take place?
There it is

have the data plan wars finally begun?
You know, this is actually an exciting deal… I love my iPhone but I might actually be willing to give it up for such a good deal that’s simple to understand – unlimited everything.
Not unlimited everything. You only get 450 minutes for land lines
this make me feel sad and foolish, is that because? yes i’m with T-mobile and with t-mo, you have to pay a $1.50 to get a paper bill and with Sprint you just get a lower bill!
I’m on the T-Mo customer loyalty plan they offered a few months ago… $50 unlimited everything.
holly shiz you mean sprints the only cell phone provider actually offering a plan that makes sense? I hope that takes off and they’re successful with it and everyone else scrambles to get there acts together. I wish not to be taken advantage of anymore!
Im on sprint and would like to switch to this plan. But I need to get a blackberry so I can use all of those services. I love my LG Rumor but I’d like to be able to use the NFL mobile live.
Wow, maybe its time to switch to sprint?
Wow, thats almost better than Boost Mobiles deal hahaha
Before you all shoot your load and go nuts, realize that AT&T and Verizon are going to have to respond to this in some way and sooner rather than later, thats for sure.
Since AT&T just announced their version of “My Faves” yesterday, I doubt they will be changing anything up anytime soon. I honestly don’t see anyone changing anything completely soon. Sprint’s ALWAYS had the best plans in the last 5 years or so, and now it’s simply unbeatable. Go Sprint. I already have an Everything Data plan, so this applies to me, couldn’t be happier :)
Best data plan and sloppiest network coverage. Nothing beats getting nailed for roaming charges
http://gizmodo.com/5356228/sprint-any-mobile-official-unlimited-calls-to-all-mobile-numbers-unless-youre-roaming
wow. I didn’t even realize that “roaming” existed anymore. I thought that was something from 1998. big reason to stay with att or verizon.
Haha to think that $70 buys the whole plan on Sprint sounds great. On AT&T $70 buys the yet-to-be-released iPhone tethering!
wrong
The pricing change didn’t seem to only affect the “everything plan”. I’m not on the “everything plan” and my bill is typically around $50/month after corporate discount of 12%. My bill was already posted for this month before the announcement at $49 but after the announcement…a credit was applied to my bill bringing it down to $33.
As much as I have toiled about moving to the iPhone, I have been most reluctant to do so by a) AT&T’s horrible network and b) AT&T’s inflated pricing. I’m really happy that I’ve stuck it out with Sprint now and looking forward to picking up a new Android device this fall (maybe the HTC Hero).
Bravo, Sprint.
regardless of ATTs recent problems, I don’t think anyone can sincerely claim that sprint has a better network.
Switch to Sprint for this? Are you kidding? Let’s see: Unreliable network, bad customer service, only 450 minutes for land line calls (and overage charges of 45c/min) and it seems like there is still roaming charges applicable too. No way!
Many other, better offers available. Prepaid has most of them – I use Straight Talk unlimited on Verizon’s network for 45 bucks. Better network, better price. There are others too. Just look around.
Um, I think you are comparing apples to oranges here. Also it’s not 450 minutes to landlines, its 450 7am-7pm monday-friday minutes to landlines. And unlimited text, and unlimited data and GPS, and all other sprint data products. There is a 900 minute version, or simply everything which is truly every single thing unlimited. Roaming charges aren’t applicable, the minutes you use just don’t count towards mobile-2-mobile. ATT and VZW do the EXACT SAME THING. There’s family plans that are 1500 and 3000 minutes (and are easily the most popular plans on Sprint as it is) and they now get this features. Most people nowadays don’t talk to landlines, and now Sprint’s mobile to mobile trumps everyone else’s by a ton.
It’s not a good deal in my eyes, there are far better deals out there for instance Straight Talk unlimited which offers Unlimited anytime, anywhere talk, texts and 30mb of data for $45/month and it runs on Verizon’s network nationwide. I know it doesn’t have such nice handsets but it really is better considering the price.
