Even after the pre-sale countdown for the Moto CLIQ began this morning, we were left with two burning questions: How much would it cost, and when would we get’em? Fortunately, T-Mobile didn’t leave us hanging for too long.
According to the press release that just hit the wire, Moto’s Android-flavored, QWERTY-packin’ baby is going to set us back $200 bucks alongside a two year contact, and will ship out on November 2nd.
That price, unfortunately, kills our buzz a bit. While the Cliq looks like a pretty darned decent handset, we were really counting on it coming out on the cheap. Not for our own sake, mind you – but for Android’s. Android needs a good, dirt cheap (Sub-$100, at the most) handset to start winning over the masses. Combine the early rumors that indicated that this would be ultra-budget friendly with the fact that the CLIQ looks a bit.. well, ultra-budget friendly, and we certainly had our hopes high for something low. Oh well.

Admittedly, its a better device than the G1, but I don’t think $200 is a sufficiently competitive price, particularly with the standard 2-year contract. I’ll be sticking with my G1 for now.
Why not just wait for the Nokia N900. It makes me happy in the pants. T-mo is getting that one too I believe
According to the press release that is the price for existing customers wanting to buy one. If this is like any other T-mobile launch, then the price for a new customer will be at least $50 below the price for existing customers.
Why is every site reporting on this ignoring where the press release clearly states this is pre-order pricing for existing customers?
Seems they should drop the G1 to $75-99. MyTouch, Click $149. Then $199 for the Hero and Sholes. Thats how I would do it.
Nice Review. I don’t think $200 is a handsome price. I cant find it on any store can you help me out from here?

1) This first-offering price will be reduced in 2 months. That’s how it always works.
2) That’s before “web-only instant discounts” or other promotional offers they may choose to use strategically based on demand.
3) stop whining ;-)
price is too high, nice phone but t-mobile seems totally lost at this point, behind in network and losing more of their price edge everyday.
Its expensive. No need to buy this. I’m gonna buy any other from here amazing offers..http://www.justcompareit.com/m~c-cell-phones~b-11580100~f-259-535.aspx?ag=3
