(Yeah. My iPhone’s name is Sancho. So what. Wanna fight about it?)
Alright, folks; it’s that time again. If you’re not a jailbreaker, get to hittin’ that update button in iTunes (if you are a jailbreaker, you probably want to wait to make sure this update is safe.) Apple just pushed version 3.1.2 of the iPhone OS down the pipes. It’s a minor update, but it fixes a couple little bugs that have personally driven us bonkers.
The Fixes:
- Fixes a “sporadic issue” that kept the iPhone from waking up after it’s in sleep mode
- Sometimes, the iPhone loses cell connectivity and won’t reconnect without a restart. Thats been fixed.
- An issue with streaming videos crashing has been fixed.

does this break the palm pre sync :D
Any truth to the rumors that updating to 3.1 affects/eliminates tethering?
Yap yap we got that works well for us.
Yes. this breaks palm pre sync. that’s one of their main objective for this update.
How does updating the software on the iPhone effect the Palm Pre syncing with iTunes?
yes it does break the palm sync
sancho is a great name.
How do you know that the main objective is to break Palm Pre sync with Itunes? Are you an Apple insider? Palm chose to sync with Itunes, and it is their job to play catch up and Apple does not have to wait for them.
This update enhanced my battery and I am getting far better signal lock, plus what Apple released about what the update fixes.
This is an update for the iPhone firmware, not iTunes. Unless somehow it also modifies the iTunes binary which i doubt, it will have no affect on Pre syncing either way. Because the Pre syncs to iTunes, not iPhone. Got that?
Also, my phone is called ‘Neil’
I dont seem to be any big issues and no need to upgrade, I think?
