Not only does the term “Windows Phone” just sound wrong, now they’re trying to equate all your Windows apps with puffy little men who love you but don’t want you to leave.
The story is simple: the icons are your Windows apps. They miss you. You can take ether with you on your Windows Phone. Sadly, they don’t show how you have to cripple them as they leave the house, reducing them to a shell of their former selves. Perhaps a scene of hobbling, like in Misery?

MSN is still a thing? I don’t even remember what it does….
That has got to be the worst commercial for a phone, ever! Besides, who the hell wants to bring Outlook, Word, etc with them? I get enough of that crap at the office, I don’t need it everywhere else.
People with jobs?
Yeah, but guess what, most of us aren’t douchey enough to think that we get any meaningful work done in Word on a 3 inch screen.
But then there’s you, with the beltclip and pleated khakis, writing me inane and blithering emails from Outlook on your phone.
Please stop.
Like I said, people with jobs.
And no I don’t want fries with my burger, thanks.
I like how MSN, Outlook, etc is brought with him even though I don’t think I know anyone who uses any of that. If MSN wants to become a big player and knock off Google they need to go back to branding 101.
I’m picturing the little apps leaving the house with him all cheerful and suddenly the sky darkens and the apps turn into zombified versions of themselves groaning and dragging themselves after him down the sidewalk.
I think it’s kind of sweet and certainly better than ragging on your opposition’s perceived weaknesses by remaking the same fucking commercial a gazillion times.
Followed around by small puffy men, eh?
Same thing happens when you criticize Linux.
Win.
When I first saw that commercial I thought it was for a competitor’s product because it looked like a good thing to leave all that stuff behind and those costumes don’t look stupid.
err… I mean those costumes look stupid… :/
i would definitely say that its really amazing video microsoft have described their concept nicely
Although I would have absolutely no interest in ever getting a windows phone, I thought the commercial was actually not too bad.
can’t we just look at microsoft for once in a lifetime in a good way..i mean like if that was google’s or apple’s commercial u will all say how awesome and funny it was..
i really found this commercial great, and the most i liked was the outlook guy holding the tea cattle…really nice
here here
I actually like Microsoft and liked their recent Windows 7 ads, but this ad to me was not that good. I’m not saying MS is bad, just this ad is. Personal preference I guess.
Funny how they never show any shots of the phone running those apps, which look like they were written in 1996.
If they wanted to make the commercial realistic to what you’d actually experience, they’d have the guy poking those puffy app icons with a tiny little stylus.
I’m sure there are some people out there who still swear by their Palm Pilots, but let’s face it… WinMo has always been a copy of the Palm OS and the world has moved away from stylus-based devices years ago. The world has passed WinMo by.
you guys should not talk until you actually try a winmo6.5 phone. I have the HTC Imagio and it happens to be a great phone.
I’m a blackberry person myself, but after seeing the “meetings are better with a microsoft phone” I chuckled….I think ANYONE that’s ever been screwing off w/ANY phone app during a hum drum corporate meeting can relate to this one!
