Man, you’ve gotta love these things. I’ve yet to see one of these leak out showing any shortcomings for the primary device – but I guess that’s really the point. It’s not so much a comparison chart as it is a “You should probably avoid talking about stuff outside of this list” chart.
Anyway – the chart up above is purported to be the one that VZW employees will be studying for the sake of pitching the Storm2. There’s some interesting stuff going on; for example, they chose to compare the Storm2 to an iPhone 3G, rather than a 3GS – which is weird, considering that the only difference that would reflect in this list is that the 3GS’ camera is 3 megapixels rather than 2. At 3.2 megapixels (with flash), the Storm2 would still have it beat.
Good job diggin’ this one up, CrackBerry.

funny how they leave out the fact that the pre’s camera also has a flash, although they did give it “removable memory” – wish my pre had that :(
I see a list of reasons that I don’t really care about. There are a few nice things, but it’s a pretty meh list.
Also funny that they show the iPhone as being capable of OTA music download via “WiFi only”. Um, yeah, back in 2007…
But can you get Verizon V-CAST Music with Rhapsody on the iPhone? I thought not!!
Also, I’m curious to know what the difference is between “Assisted & Standalone” GPS vs. plain ol’ “Standalone”. I’ve always thought of “assisted” GPS as one that uses cell triangulation or Skyhook to give itself a rough location, thereby allowing it to get a position lock that much faster. Funny, the iPhone has that, too.
But I guess if they didn’t fudge the chart a little bit, all of these phones would come out looking just about exactly the same, with the final decision coming down to personal preference of network and UI. Oh, wait, that’s *exactly* what it boils down to…
Assisted GPS will be much faster in giving you the first position than standalone. Its not just using cell triangulation or skyhook, the network gives the cell phone its rough location, approximate time, which satellites are visible and so on. Assisted will also give you a position in a very challenging environment like indoors or urban canyon, think the E911 situation..
The iPhone 3G and 3GS have aGPS. The chart is wrong.
There are quite a few glaring errors in that chart:
-the Palm Pre has no removable storage
-the iPhone does indeed have assisted GPS (or A-GPS)
-the iPhone also does have OTA music downloads
Not to mention the odd fact that they are comparing the iPhone 3G and not the 3Gs.
VCast? That’s a feature I want? Yeah right! It’s exactly that content adding crap from Verizon that I don’t like about their products. I have their service, but phone only, because their content is utter crap.
I can’t go iPhone because AT&T sucks, and I can’t have iPhone because Verizon’s service is great, but they’re just idiots that try too hard to be dominant and own everything to do with cell phones.
You don’t want to pay an extra $15/mo for vcast? That’s impossible.
The iPhone is coming to Verizon soon, so don’t worry!!!
Nice that they wouldn’t put one of the important features the price. Plus why would blackberry let them put it against its own product the Bold?
Nice Article.. But I like my Sprint.. I have got it. Because i find it on hot deal. Sexiest of merchandise.. http://www.justcompareit.com/s~q-blackberry-sprint~b-11580100~c-Cell-Phones.aspx?ag=3
