Cryptic Droid release date counter reveals October 28th announcement date

This one goes out to all the Da Vinci Code fans out there. You know who you are. The Droid is incoming, this we know, but the day and date have eluded us… until now. The little countdown on the Droid does site is made of little glyphs, but a simple substitution code isn’t going to hold off the internet for long. I could have applied my steel trap of a mind to it, but I’m busy with… you know, important stuff. Luckily, someone else took up the torch and made the requisite calculations.

If you apply the key, obtained by assuming a DDHHMMSS countdown format and using today’s date and the seconds to work out the symbols, you get midnight of October 27th/28th, probably coinciding with an official announcement and press conference in the morning — you know, when people are awake.

Of course, early November is when the phone will actually be available, but it seems that the real marketing push will be starting a week or so ahead of time. Hope it’s as good as people say, because brother, that thing is ugly.

  • i dont understand why everyone keeps say that it is ugly, disregarding the fact that is looks cool to me…why does it even matter that much?

  • I agree…I like the design quite a bit. Hey, it’s 100 times better looking than the T-Mobile G1-boy is that thing hideous. Anyways, I cannot express enough how excited I am to have this phone in my hands!

  • I’m not very fond of the design of the Droid. Generally I like it, but the pad with the golden thing sucks, if it’s a pad. Nobody explained yet what that is.

  • Driod = Not the iPhone Killer.

The hardware simply…(how do I put this?)….SUCKS. But the OS might be really good tho.

    • dude what the hell are you talking about? it has a better processor, a better camera, 5 MP with flash! it actually has a keyboard and a much higher pixel screen, and even though it is a slider, it is barely thicker than the iphone….what about that sucks???

  • its super ugly. and the design doesnt make any sense. actually, i have never really seen a motorola phone that i thot looked cool or atractive or anything. the hero is way better looking.

  • The directional control and button seems pretty ugly but supposely the thickness of the droid is a little bigger than the iphone so design wise im pretty sure they didnt have a choice.

For a phone that runs a very advance OS you would assume it would have a better cool hip design.

Visually it adds like 5 years to your age.
