It should be known by now that there probably won’t be much happening with the Motorola Droid until October 28 at the earliest, but according to these screenshots of Best Buy’s system, the retailer might have the phone available early on October 24. Now, the 24 is this coming Saturday, which is a usual inventory restocking day so just because the stores have them somewhere doesn’t mean they will be available for purchase.
But then again you might be able to get one over on an unsuspecting (and untrained) Best Buy wireless sales associate. That is, of course, if you’re willing to pay the $599 no-contract price until it’s officially available from Verizon on October 28. Actually, I’m sure some trust fund d-bags are willing to pay that price just to be the coolest kid in town.

I don’t think it is “known” that the Droid is launching the 28th. There is just a Droid event that date, it doesn’t mean 100% it will be launched that day.
Yeah its definately not going to be launched out of the blue. Verizon is going to do a big press release and give us a week for speculations as well as more apple iphone attack ads and than theyll release the monster.
$599 for a phone is a bit too rich for my blood. I prefer an old Sidekick or other beater phone. This Motorola looks like a quality piece of electronics, though.
Just talked to my Best Buy inside guy… and I quote… “None on hand none in transit and none in the warehouse yet. So probably not by 10/24.”
It will fail as well against the almighty Apple iPhone.
that’d better be sarcasm. otherwise, stfu.
No, it’s okay, he actually has a point. Sometimes fanboyism can be pretty true. In this case? Definitely. Every phone has technically failed as an “iphone killer”. I’m almost positive that this one doesn’t have a chance in hell at overthrowing the iphone. Doesn’t mean it’ll be a sucky phone or anything, but let’s be honest here, it’s chances of doing what it’s meant to do is slim to none. It could be a thousand times better than the iphone and it would still fail. That’s called “mind share” (a bit like market share) which apple has a lot of.
watch all the :Droid Does” commercials along with anti dorid videos from loyal iPhone users…
