So does this allow charging at the same time that connection is used for data transfer? Because if not, I'd rather use Apple's dock connector that does, thankyouverymuch.

I currently connect my one cable in my car to get both line-level audio and a constant charge. If I had to connect 2 cables and have another wire hanging around the cabin, I wouldn't even bother. Having any cables at all is annoying enough. (Looking forward to mass acceptance of induction charging!)

I hope they are only supporting the USB Battery Charging Specification (http://www.usb.org/developers/devclass_docs/batt_charging_1_1.zip) otherwise they might come up with yet another way to detect a usb charger and there are already two ways:
1. D+ and D- lines are shortened together (following BC1.1 and BC1.0 specs)
2. resistor connected to id pin (afaict, only chargers that came before the BC spec have this setup).

If we add yet another one... my life will be a bit more difficult :-p
