When Google announced the Nexus One at an event early last month, one journalist asked, “Why doesn’t this have multi-touch? When is it going to get multi-touch?” Andy Rubin, VP of Engineering at Google, said, “It’s something we’re looking into. It’s just a software thing right now.” Well, today our prayers have been answered via an over-the-air update for the Nexus One. It also has some critical updates and fixes, too.
One of the more painful issues has been the spotty 3G service on the Nexus One. While Google said it was a T-Mobile network problem, some users remained unconvinced. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s included in this update:
Google Goggles: this mobile application will now be available directly on your device by launching it from your All Apps menu. Just use your Nexus One camera to start searching the web
Google Maps: the Maps application with be updated to a new version, Google Maps 3.4, which will include:
- Starred items synchronized with maps.google.com – access your favorite places from your phone or computer
- Search suggestions from your personal maps.google.com history – makes it easy to search for places you’ve searched for before
- Night mode in Google Maps Navigation – automatically changes your screen at night for easier viewing and driving
Pinch-to-zoom functionality: devices will now include a new pinch-to-zoom mechanism in the phone’s Browser, Gallery and Maps applications3G connectivity: we will provide a general fix to help improve 3G connectivity on some Nexus One phones

There has been a lot of hype and tension erupted after the unveiling of the nexus one. For the past month, we are seeing some of the errors and glitches that a future user may want to look before buying the N1 phone. YES! The phone just went from awesome to perfect. Now I don’t regret picking this over the iPhone.
I must say I’ve had all 3 iphones and even though I loved the dam thing I got really tired of jailbreaking them just to have features that my nexus one came with standard and now I don’t have to be moding my phone to have multitasking features or standard GPS navigation etc…
now i NEED this phone
Sure the iPhone is a very good device but the Nexus one beats it in abt 80% of the compared features. And w/ the just released OTA that pushes it to even 90%. The folks in the Apple camp can hear the the foot steps of the N1 getting closer..unless the coming new iPhone do smth to maintain its edge. It has to be a device that captivates you w/ one look..such as the N1, and has to have major improvements on key features. But for now..i am squarely on the corner of the N1..it is a beautiful sexy device that is full of innovative features and w/ the current OTA update..it is unstoppable. My only gripe is..Google hasn’t done enuf to advertise it on tv, so the masses will know of its existence. I suggest they do an ad blitz to rival that done for the motorola Droid..let everyone besides those online know of this killer device. N1 rules..
I heard bad reviews about the nexus one. Heard it was all hyped up for nothing, but those weren’t my reviews. Anyways looks like it’s just another droid trying to compete with the notorious iPhone.
Nexus was always excellent, but i think now it is perfect. With these awesome features, i think its surely gonna beat the iphone. I think more features are coming in future as Andy Robin said.
Just want to ask what is the best between the two gadgets because I am planning to buy a gadget like this. Honestly I have already decided to buy an iphone when suddenly google release its new Gadget which is Nexus and now I iam puzzled.
Google released a nexus and Nexus is too good than i phone and surely because of it’s perfect features it will be on top and it will beat every other model.

I think they are trying to make it perfect day by day. They are trying to outrun the iphone. We are going to see an epic fight between these two.

Personally i don’t like Iphone because it has limited features but Nexus is awesome invention of Google.It is very fast and there are many extra feature like windows,more speedy internet browser of it own
