The Verizon-bound Motorola Devour wasn’t much of a secret after the retail packaging leaked last week. We knew it was coming, but not so soon because big red VZW just announced it to the world. Don’t get too excited though, it’s not a Droid replacement as Android 1.6 is powering it instead of 2.0.
That doesn’t mean it’s not another fine phone to add to Verizon’s stable. Oh no, the 3.1-inch capacitive screen, 8GB microSD card, full QWERTY keyboard, and the social networking-centric Motoblur all combine to make a great device. It also comes rocking a 3 MP camera, 802.11 b/g WiFi, GPS, and a 3.5mm headset jack.
Verizon did however leave out two key details: price and exact release date within the month of March. Chances are that it will be available at a lower price point than the flagship Droid.

Another slider? When…oh when will it end!?
When people stop buying them.
It really depends on your preferences. To some, a slider phone is lucrative to use, because the keyboard is pretty handy to use, for others. it looks ‘turd’ because they don’t like that dangling keyboard on top of their sleek looking phone.
As for the devour, The strange thing about this model is why should the specs be fluctuated down
by moto developers? (3mp cam only, keyboard from RAZR to a normal keyboard, etc) Some Details:
This was on my radar as a possible purchase until I read what OS it’s running. Terrible.
Not that impressed, I guess good for those who need a Droid “lite”. I would like a Droid without the slide out keyboard, then it would be lighter and thinner, now that would be great, of course the upgrade to 2.1 would be nice too.
I find it odd that Moto would switch up both the order and the icons for the four touch sensitive buttons. Droid from left to right is back, menu, home, and search. The icons for menu and search (if that’s what the left most icon is) have been changed and their order flipped.
I meant that the icons for menu and search have been changed and the order of search and back have been flipped.
See how confusing it is.
This is fantastic news!! now, for the 250,000 of us who bought a droid in week 1 and the many others who have bought one since, 2.1 for the droid will be released when?……
I’m confused by that keyboard. No sign of a SHIFT key, and the spacebar is between the V and B keys. Love Android phones and I like a physical keyboard, but I’m not impressed by this one.
Going with a dedicated row for numbers does seem like a very odd decision.
I can’t help but shake my head and ask myself “who the h*#& is actually going to spend money on this thing?” every time a see a picture of it.
IMHO, probably the ugliest smart phone I’ve seen in a looong time.
anyone working for VZW know the exact date when this device will be available? how about the date for the nexus as well?
Ain’t that something else…lol
