This isn’t official or anything, just a concept that happens to use some Microsoft assets, but what it Windows Mobile 7 looked like this? I think we all know it will not, but until the hammer actually falls at MWC, hope springs eternal. The “location-based desktops” idea is a good one for a MID or powerful smartphone that acts alternately as your email client, GPS device, and TV.

Looks like something that would work well on a tablet, perhaps MS is launching a tablet at WMC? and WM7… gosh I hope so!
I think it all comes down to screen size + resolution. If you have a bigger phone like the HTC HD2, I think this would work fine. Anything smaller and they’d have to scale back the UI elements a bit.
This + Courier + Win 7 shows just how much MS is “getting” it right now. Ballmer may be an arrogant, brash PITA but he’s getting it done.
I don’t see this interface working great on a mobile device the size of a cell phone but this would be absolutely superb for a tablet computer. While Windows 7 has great touch screen functionality this would offer a much more seamless experience. I don’t think it should replace windows 7 but instead be offered as a add-on. Similar to how the Origami Experience Project increases the usability and aesthetic components of a UMPC while leaving Windows itself for more advanced operations such as photoshop.
MS should’t tell in advance, where this OS should go. In german, locus is a slang expression for toilet.
Looks quite innovative and fun to work with… this would definitely work on a tablet! I’m not sure about phones…
