I myself am in the “This will never work”-camp, but Japanese video game giant Capcom is preparing a special version of their hit title “Streetfighter IV” for the iPhone/iPod touch. The announcement was made last week, making the iPhone version the first on a mobile device (the arcade game has been ported to the PS3 and XBox 360 only so far).
And today, Gamepro was able to lay their hands on Streetfighter IV (see their video below), revealing the final version will feature a total of eight characters: Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, M. Bison and Abel (the console games have 17 playable characters).
Capcom also said Streetfighter is scheduled to hit the App Store next month with a price tag of $9.99. Graphics-wise, the version Gamepro was able to test looks pretty impressive, but I have massive doubts regarding control and playability – even though Capcom is behind this. There’s a reason why the iPhone doesn’t have many fighting games.

I agree! There is no way in hell that will work. It’s simply too fast paced a game for the iPhone’s touchscreen controls. If any of the toted gamepads would ever come out then maybe this would be at least playable, but by iphone controls only, no chance!
It looks faster than Madden. I bought the Madden app and it was simply horrible game play on the iphone.
Games involving arcade fighting like street fighter or mortal combat can never be played on iphones as these games require very fast movements of fingers which is not possible on an iPhone.
Let us see what Capcom has in store for us regarding this development.
Am I the only one who never liked Streetfighter? I always preferred the MK games, SF was just so…”cartoony”.
It was on PC too you
guys
i think iphone doesnt have many figth games yet because its just the beginning of more complex games
Y’all hate too much. Just let the game be released and who ever buys it, buys it and who ever doesn’t, doesn’t. If it won’t work on the iPhone/iPod touch then why are they making it for it? Simply cause they figured out a system to make it work and it’s probably goin to be one of the best games on iPhone/iPod touch. Soooo… Where’s the positive feedback
This game is gonna be sick! Can’t wait!
