Here it is, folks! Its been a few long months for Sprint fans toting Touch Pro2′s, given that the same device on all of the other carriers saw upgrades to Windows Mobile 6.5 months ago while their own Pro2s stayed back at WinMo 6.1. We knew the update was coming sometime in March, and then we pinned the date down to some more specific: today.
Sure enough, the update went live. So go, go young Pro2 carrier, and let the warm rays of Windows Mobile 6.5 breath new life into your Touch Pro2. (Download link here) Better yet, hack Android onto it.

What can I say. Just flashed my Sprint Touch Pro 2. Feels like a new phone. Sense is awesome.
Great work, Sprint.
I been having nothing but problems with the audio player. It does not play any songs from my microSD card. The program freezes! I might have to go back to old Windows :( Someone help !
I would be happy to roll right on back to 6.1 on my touch pro 2. It was WAY more stable and liked the menus MUCH better. If I wanted an iPhone I would have gotten one.
I loaded it, I had been running cooked 6.5.5 ROMS but I wanted the stability. Its been perfect for me.
Unless I find a fix for my problem Im going to roll back. Where can I find the HTC 6.1 ROM ?
I don’t think you can. You usually accept a disclaimer beforehand so it’s possible that you’ll have to…
a.) contact Sprint and plea. may cost $
b.) google for an HTC 6.1 ROM specific to your model and carrier
c.) find a pre-cooked custom 6.5 rom and use that
d.) download the kitchen tools and cook your own custom rom.
I got a Samsung Omnia for free, and hated the 6.1 rom. I’ve been using Windows Mobile 6.5 (and updates) for the past 5 months.
Good luck.
I dont know if the problem is with my memory card because if the songs are on the main memory, everything is fine but if they are on the microSD, I get the damn message.
Will not let me add my msn account… keeps opening my email in a web browser…
any way to get it on the email section?
Is the upgrade worth it?
Cosmetically and error fixes I think 6.5 is wort it if you are looking at it in that perspective. However, I would jump back to 6.1 in a heartbeat. Sprint did not develop the software to support transferring contacts from a previous phone to your current phone loaded with 6.5. Until they release that software you will not be able to transfer contacts in the sprint store. I do have my contacts synched at my job with Outlook and I am going to attempt to get them back that way. Myphone software on my phone had not been used in a while and when I logged in to get my stored contacts of course it synched with the new ROM and I got “nothing”. So be careful. Also, it took away “all settings” with the new install. The settings on 6.5 are limited. Don’t like it.
The all settings are still there on the sprint based TP2′s, click the settings icon, then lower left is all settings, or at least on my phone it is :-)
With regard to transferring contacts, I was able to do this by using the bluetooth function. Just go to transfer contacts via bluetooth, and when it asks you which contact to transfer select all. Hope that helps.
I lost all my contacts when updating! Anyway to retrieve them??? :(
Has the 6.5 upgrade been verified for the base Touch Pro (i.e. original rather than “2″)?
thx
Mike
