First Symbian-Guru doesn’t grok Symbian anymore and now Nokia is after Eldar Murtazin, editor of Mobile Review for apparently reviewing pre-released hardware. What else can go wrong in this topsy-turvy world? A huge oil spill in the Gulf?
Murtazin is famous for his gnomic tweets and his occasional scoops. His most recent coup was a full review of the unreleased Nokia N8, a device that Nokia requested back. Now the Finnish company has gotten the Russian police involved in tracking down the property.
“Several weeks back, we have formally requested the return of all unauthorized Nokia property from Mr. Murtazin and he declined to respond,” Doug Dawson, a spokesman for the Espoo, Finland-based company, said in an e-mail. “As a result, we have contacted the Russian authorities to assist us in the return of all unauthorized Nokia property.”
Will the Russians hunt Murtazin down like a dog? Will they send him to the Gulag? Probably not, but isn’t the cat pretty much out of the bag by now? Handset manufacturers are getting touchier and touchier these days.

It’s called theft and tends to be a crime wherever you live.
Basically Edlar’s fucked.
Yeah, Mark A. says right, but you know, it`s not okay to action like this. They should be a lil bit more permissive. Not much (im underlining), but a lil.
There is no reason to be more permissive other than for avoiding negative PR. I can see why a manufacturer doesn’t want to have a consultant for other manufacturers holding their prototype hardware. I can also see why they don’t want anyone to do a review of it when it’s still not done and will show problems that are not in the finished product. After all, it’s often the first impression that sticks the second best right after prejudgment.

Why are they still not putting Android on their phones….
they tried – they did a new phone and put 1.5 on it! doh!
They didn’t. Stop spreading misleading (plain WRONG) information.
Oh, was it 1.6? That’s going to compete with HTC’s Desire how, exactly? “No, no, don’t get a Desire…the X10 doesn’t take a chance on untested versions of Android”.
@dave
They didn’t make ANY Nokia phones with Android on it. If you can prove me wrong, please send me a link. I’d gladly look into it.
The X10 is a Sony Ericsson phone. Maybe you got it confused.
Hilarious that Nokia thinks anyone gives a crap what they’re even doing anymore.
I’m curious what he has to say about this though, if they ever contacted him, if they just sent one email, or if they actually bothered to call him about it?
I think they’re trying to make this out to be some sort of scandal like the iPhone 4 prototype incident with Gizmodo.
When will people get it? Nokia is still very much relevant. They make some of the best non-smartphones. You know, most people in the world don’t use smartphones..
And, why on earth would Nokia try to make it a scandal? They would receive too much bad press if they did. No, they’re just interested in retrieving their property, and that dickface reviewer is being a jerk by not returning it.
Nokia is the poor man’s apple, and Russia is the poor man’s America. Only the names have been changed. Oh, and no-one gives a shit about Nokia or Russia.
El’dar Murtazin did the best site in Russia about mobile devices, Gulag – NO!!!
Nokia makes me laugh: grand-hag is stalking a youngster ;)
I’d prefer Nokia to focus at the mobile market, not at witch trials… but looks like it’s time to buy from Samsung, or with Android, or whatever..
(BTW how long do we have to wait till Nokia will file a suite agains these http://mobile.it168.com/a2010/0322/863/000000863827.shtml “robbers”? )
Nokia doing the worst things that it can do.
Murtazin repeatedly said that Nokia does not want to talk to him. He often tried to talk to her, asking her questions. The company remained silent.
And then she said, vaguely, that he gave her back something. Murtazin asked – and what return? Nokia is not explained. Murtazin not received any letters from her, no notification.
Nokia lot of lies.
Nokia wants to divert attention from the poor quality of its products. Nokia hopes that people will think – shares nokii fall into Murtazina, and not because the phones are bad.
+1
Nokla should make phones better, than to try to arrange hunting for the independent journalist
Murtazin is a big liar, making reviews without devices in hand!
he said N97 was perfect phone, but this was before money run out from nokia!
also he said that prototype of Nexus One was in his table, but he to lazy to pick it up….
